HOW ROWING MACHINES
CAN IMPROVE YOUR FITNESS
Rowing machines are first-class
power-endurance devices. They strengthen mainly the arm,
leg and shoulder muscles. Due to the very
specific moves when rowing, these muscle groups are
stretched to the limit. Thus, with proper training you
can observe in a very short time a considerable growth of
muscle.
Rowing machines are also perfect for your fitness training.
If you consider to buy a rowing machine for a workout, you
should note that arm and leg muscles will be highly stressed.
Untrained athletes can quickly feel fatigue in these two muscle
zones.
WHAT UNTRAINED ATHLETES SHOULD
KEEP IN MIND
A training session for the purpose of
burnig fat should take at least 45 minutes. For
untrained athletes it's recommended to combine the use of
a rowing machine with another exercise machine, at least
in the beginning of the practising period. As a
complement to a bicycle ergometer or a treadmill a
rowing machine is a perfect choice. Basically, however,
the rowing machine is a good alternative for your intense
strength- and weight
training.
TWO SYSTEMS OF EXERCISE
ROWING
Regarding the course of movement there are
two different systems available: The first system works with
outriggers. For each hand an oar handle is provided separately.
The process simulates real rowing and demands a good
co-ordination of your movements, since the rowing course is
specified by yourself.
The
second system works with only one linkage which has to be
pulled with both hands (eg, Horizon Air Rower Oxford). In
practice, this system has some advantages because it
makes your body co-ordination easier and more
beneficial. You can focus on your training purpose and do not
always have to make sure that your two oars are getting in the
correct back position more or less
simultaneously.
